1946 started learning to play the violin at the seven-year-old music school in Panevėžys, and from 1949 studied at Panevėžys Music School in the violin class of teacher V. Kligis. Since 1952 served in the Soviet army for two years, where he played the horn in the military orchestra.
From 1955 to 1957 continued his studies at the Panevėžys Music School in the choir conducting class of teacher A. Liberis, he studied harmony with teacher A. Belazar. Since 1957 Lab technician at the Music Department of Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute (now Vilnius Pedagogical University). Since 1958 studied music theory and composition at Vilnius J. Tallat-Kelpša Music School in the class of teacher J. Karos. From 1959 to 1964 studied at the Lithuanian State Conservatory (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater) in the class of professor A. Račiūnas, worked as a concertmaster. 1965-1969 taught at the Vilnius School of Culture, 1969–1974. – Vilnius Pedagogical Institute, 1975–2000. – Čiurlionis Arts Gymnasium, 1984–2000 also at the Lithuanian Academy of Music.
