Born 21 05 1951 in Kaunas.
Graduated in Lithuanian language and literature from Vilnius University, worked as a journalist in various publications for many years, was the head of the literary department at Kaunas National Drama (1983-1986) and Lithuanian National Drama (1986-1990) theatres, and in 1983-1987 was the head of the Kaunas section of the Lithuanian Writers' Union, the section of young writers. Since 1990 he actively contributed to the creation of National Defence structures, worked in the Department of National Defence, was the first commander of the restored Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, the editor of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union's magazine "Trimitas", and during the events of January 13, 1991, he led the Riflemen in the defence of the Parliament, was a member of the Defence Headquarters, and was the Commandant of the Second Corps of the Palace. G. Jankus is a two-term deputy of Kaunas City Council (1997-2000 and 2000-2003), former Vice-Mayor of the city, Secretary of the Council, employee of the municipal administration. Since October 2019, he has been the chairman of the Kaunas branch of the Lithuanian Writers' Union. He has written reviews of theatre performances, reviews of plays, dramas, which have been published in separate books and collections, and performed in theatres.
