Born on 01 04 1936 in Paserbentyje, Raseiniai district. Died on 5 April 2013. In Vilnius.
Graduated from Vilnius University in 1964, worked in editorial offices. 1992-1997 Chairman of the Committee for National Culture and Art Prizes, since 2000 Chairman of the National Radio and Television Council.
