Julius Juzeliūnas's composition class at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (1986, at the same time he consulted privately with Osvaldas Balakauskas), interned at composers' courses in Poland (1989-1991) and at the IRCAM summer academy in Paris (1998). As a composer, he resided in Sweden (2003, 2006), France (2010, 2014) and Austria (2016).Šarūnas Nakas founded, managed and conducted the Vilnius New Music Ensemble, the longest-running contemporary music ensemble in Lithuania (1982–2000). Composers, musicologists, instrumentalists, vocalists, conductors, actors, directors participated in the ensemble's activities.Šarūnas Nakas was the organizer and director of the contemporary music festivals "Gaida" (1996) and "Musica Ficta" (1997)
