Since 1970 choirmaster of the Kaunas State Musical Theater, since 1972 head. choirmaster and conductor's assistant, conducted operetta performances, was a stage preparation teacher and concertmaster at the J. Gruodis Higher School of Music. In 1974, he improved his skills at the choirmaster qualification course at the Moscow Bolshoi Theater (director: head choirmaster Prof. A. Ribnov), in 1980-1981 he did an internship in Germany - Berlin, Dresden, Weimar and Leipzig, deepening his knowledge of choral, operatic and symphonic conducting (directors: Prof. R. Reuteris, R. Renter, K. Masur, J. Wilert, O. Koch), participated in the international conductors' seminar in Weimar.
1975–1980 Head of the men's choir of the Kaunas Meat Factory - organized concerts, won prizes in competitions. 1975–1977 Choirmaster of the men's choir of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, 1978–1979 artistic director and conductor of the folk ensemble of songs and dances of Kaunas "Inkaros" combine. 1978–1985 Head of the vocal group of the Kaunas Dance Ensemble "Rasa". The ensemble is a laureate of many national competitions and has performed in Russia, Portugal, Germany, Poland and elsewhere. For several years, she led the women's vocal ensemble of the Kaunas Teachers' Home. 1983-1984 artistic director and conductor of the mixed choir "Jaunystė" of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, organized a trip to North and South Vietnam, prepared for the festival of songs of students of the Baltic republics "Gaudeamus-84" in Tallinn. 1985-1991 choirmaster of the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theater: toured in Moscow and in Warsaw.
1991-2016 Director of Kaunas Musical Theatre. choirmaster and conductor, conducted operetta and opera performances, prepared choral scenes for 70 different musical works.
R. Tilvikas - consultant of the 1975 republican song festival for the Lazdija district, conductor of the Kaunas city song festival, member of the council of choir directors, member of the jury of art lovers' inspections of various collectives and choir competitions.
