Born on 02 01 1924 in Anykščiai. Died 28 03 2008 in Kaunas.
After graduating from the gymnasium in Anykščiai, in 1944 he entered the Military School of General P. Plechavičius' unit in Marijampolė. He studied Lithuanian language and literature at Vilnius University from 1945 to 1948, and was exiled to Krasnayarsk Krai in Siberia in 1948. He worked for a long time as a teacher in Krasnoyarsk krai, Raseiniai district and Kaunas. He taught Lithuanian and German languages, music; worked as deputy headmaster of the Raseiniai Secondary School and later as headmaster of the Raseiniai Children's Music School. He led various music groups: choirs, vocal ensembles, brass bands. He was the organiser and chief conductor of the Raseiniai District Song Festivals, conductor of the Kaunas City Song Festival in 1978, the National Song Festival in Vilnius in 1990, and the first World Lithuanian Song Festival in Kaunas in 1994. He started writing in gymnasium. During his studies at the university he was involved in active literary activities: he was a member of the Young Writers' Section of the Writers' Union, and the chairman of the Vilnius University Literary Club. After the exile, he started writing again during the Revival period.
