1977-1988 studied at the M.K. Čiurlionis Arts Gymnasium. 1988-1993 studied composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater.
in 1995 together with the sound director Algimantas Kupčinskas founded the experimental sound design studio "UP Records". K. Mašanauskas composed music for almost 30 feature films, documentaries and cartoons. He is the sound director of more than ten films, the author of music for video installations.
K. Mašanauskas has won many awards. in 1988 K. Mašanauska's song "Lietuva" won first place in the "Jaunimo Estrada" best pop song election. in 1996 Awarded Bravo Award for Best Music Album of the Year for Requiem. in 2002 - Prize of the Lithuanian Cinematographers' Union for the best film soundtrack for Romos Lileikis' film about Užupis "K+M+B". in 2008 for the production of national dramaturgy - the play P. Vaičiūnas "Patriotai" was awarded the Golden Stage Cross. in 2012 won the "Sidabrinė gervė" award for the work of the best composer of the year "Tadas Blinda. The beginning". in 2014 The Golden Stage Cross Award for the best music for the musical "The Legend of Žygimantas Augusta and Barbora Radvilaitė".
in 2014 awarded with the Order "For Merit to Lithuania" medal.
