Born on 18 March 1959 in Vilnius.
In 1966-1976 he attended the A. Vienuolis Secondary School, from which he was expelled in the last year with some friends for anti-Soviet sentiments and church attendance. While working at the House of Books, he graduated from Vilnius 8th Evening School. In 1977-78, he was drafted into military service. On his return, he worked as a caretaker at the Science Museum of Vilnius University (St. John's Church). While still at school, he met several dissidents and became involved in their activities. He took part in the publication of the illegal (underground) press (the periodicals "Laisvės šauklys" and "Vytis"), as well as in the preparation of protest statements against violations of human rights, the persecution of the Church, the falsification of history, the destruction of cultural monuments, etc. Writing and editing relevant texts. Belonged to the secret political organisation Lithuanian Freedom League. Since 1977, his home has been subject to constant searches, surveillance and interrogation by KGB organs.
Together with other dissidents, he signed the "Memorandum of the 45 Baltic Dissidents" in 1979, was arrested and convicted in 1980 for anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda. He was imprisoned in a KGB prison in Vilnius for a year and a half, then exiled for 5 years to the village of Parbel in Tomsk region, Western Siberia, where he worked as a plumber, a stoker and a loader.
He returned to Lithuania in the summer of 1986. He worked as a sacristan at St. In the autumn he joined the secret Franciscan Order of monks. 23 August 1987. Since 1992, with a break of a few years, he has been working for Catholic Radio "Mažoji Studija" (Small Studio) (currently Editor-in-Chief), producing programmes of religious and cultural content. He collaborates in the periodical press ("Severo Atėnaios", "Lietuvos žinios"), in the Internet daily "Bernardinai.lt", etc., and teaches homiletics at the Vilnius Theological Seminary.
