Born on 11 May 1970 in Šimonyse, Kupiškis district.
In 1988 graduated from Šimonys secondary school. Worked for a year in the school library. In 1994 graduated from Vilnius University in Lithuanian language and literature. Worked for the children's magazine "Žvaigždutė", the cultural weekly "7 meno dienos", the magazine "Jaunimo gretos". She started publishing her work in 1986 - her poems were published in the magazine "Moksleivis". Her novels have been translated into English, French, Swedish, Russian, Georgian, Polish and other languages, and have been included in recent anthologies. In 2013, a film of the same name (directed by Agnė Marcinkevičiūtė) was based on her novel "Vardas tmavsoje". The writer lives in Vilnius.
