1923-1934 studied at the Riga Conservatory (Arvydas Daugulas piano and Jazeps Vytuolis composition classes). While studying, he started creative work, and also became famous as a pianist in Latvia and Lithuania. 1930-1938 worked as a music teacher at the Lithuanian high school, organist at St. Albert's Church, led the high school and church choirs. in 1931 the first recitals of Stasios Vainiūnas took place in Riga and Kaunas, widely described in the press of that time. in 1933 participated in the international piano competition held in Vienna and earned the title of laureate, thus becoming the first Lithuanian pianist to receive international recognition.
in 1938 invited to teach the piano specialty in Klaipėda, from 1939 Šiauliai Music School. Since 1942 lived in Kaunas, 1942-1949. He taught at the Kaunas Conservatory. the piano. 1943-1944 Concertmaster of the Kaunas Theater. 1946-1948 Pianist of the State Trio of the LSSR. Since 1949 lived in Vilnius, 1949-1982. taught at the LSSR Conservatory, since 1953. professor, until 1973 headed the special piano department. 1954-1962 Chairman of the Board of the Union of Composers of the LSSR. Member of the Peace Protection Committee of the LSSR, member of the evaluation commissions of inter-republic and international pianist competitions.
