in 1975 graduated from Juozas Gruodis Conservatory in Kaunas. Graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 1980. - prof. Dom Svirski's cello class, 1989. - prof. Vytautas Lauruša's composition class.
Since 1979 works in the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. 1991-1997 cried St. In the Christopher Chamber Orchestra, 1995-2000. – in the Vilnius New Music Ensemble. He performed with ensembles and orchestras in many countries.
Arvydas Malcys is a member of the Lithuanian Composers' Union and the Lithuanian Musicians' Union.

In 2004, the author won the third prize at the international composers' competition "Sinfonia Baltica" in Riga for the composition "Virš ours tik dangus" for symphony orchestra, in 2005 Juoz Karos composition competition - first prize for Concerto for piano and chamber orchestra, 2006. at the composers' competition "Mozart 250" in Moscow - Conductor's prize for the composition "In memoriam" for string orchestra, 2008 in the Juoz Karos composition competition - the first prize for the piece "Saxchord" for tenor saxophone and string quartet; in 2007 the composition "Cantus sirenum" won the second place in the competition of the International Haifa Flute Festival. in 2009 the piece "Narcizas" won the selection for the compulsory program at the international Max Rostal viola competition in Berlin in 2009. The composer has released nine original CDs.
