V. Paukštė was born in 1932. July 2 Kaunas, 1957 graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory, acted in Marijampolė Drama Theater for several years. Since 1963, he has been an actor at the Klaipėda Drama Theater. During his 45 years of creative work, the actor created more than a hundred roles on the stage of the Drama Theater of the port city. The history of Lithuanian theater is decorated with the actor's most prominent roles, including Mindaugas and Mažvydas Just. In Marcinkevičius's dramas of the same name, Albinas (G.Kanovićus "How are you doing, pricks?"), Karfunkels (I.Kočerga "Time masters"), Skaitov (Just. He has created more than 60 roles in cinema and television films.

Paukštei was awarded the honorary title of Lithuanian Meritorious Artist; in 1982 – Honorary title of People's Artist of Lithuania; in 1978 - State prize for the roles of Mindaugas, Mažvydas, Satinas, and other prominent actors on the Lithuanian stage. In the year of the nation's revival, the actor joined the Sąjūdis of Lithuania and was a member of the Sąjūdis Seimas. in 1998 awarded with the Order of the Grand Duke Gediminas of Lithuania; in 1998 - Laureate of "Kristoforo" for the best role of the year on the Lithuanian stage; in 2000 awarded the Independence Medal; in 2002 - Government Art Prize; in 2008 - Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Art.
