Gato Barbieri ✝

Leandro Barbieri, known as Gato Barbieri, was an Argentine jazz tenor saxophonist and composer. He was born on November 28, 1932, in Rosario, Argentina. Barbieri's music was influenced by Latin American rhythms, free jazz, and the music of John Coltrane. He played with many famous jazz musicians, including Don Cherry and Charlie Haden. Barbieri also composed music for films, including the score for the movie 'Last Tango In Paris'. He died on April 2, 2016, in New York City.
