Biografia

Gaspar Cassadó (6 September 1897 – 24 December 1966) was a Spanish cellist and composer of the early 20th century. He was born in Barcelona, and studied under Casals and took many other significant teachers including Blanche Selva, Maurice Ravel (composition), and Alfred Cortot (piano). His composition studies continued with Joaquín Rodrigo and Enrique Fernández Arbós. He was one of the most important cellists in the first half of the 20th century, and a regular performer and recording artist with George Enescu, Jacques Thibaud, and Alfred Cortot. His major compositions include his Cello Concerto in C major, his suite for solo cello, and his Requiebros for cello and piano.
