Andrea Gabrieli ✝

Andrea Gabrieli is the uncle of composer Giovanni Gabrieli. He was born around 1533 in Venice (in Italian - Venezia); he did not spend his entire life in Venice; he lived in Germany for a long time and returned to Italy in 1566. He became the organist of the San Marco Ducale Basilica (the largest church in Venice) in 1566, replacing Annibale Padovano. He died in Venice in 1586. His works are mostly instrumental, including Toccate, Recercari, Canzoni alla francese and the most beautiful Intonazioni d'organo.
