Johannes Hanssen was a Norwegian bandmaster and composer. He is best known for composing the march, Valdresmarsjen, which has become a Norwegian classic. Hanssen was born on December 2, 1874, in Stavanger, Norway. He began playing the cornet at an early age and later became the conductor of the Bergen Band. His works include a number of marches, waltzes, and other compositions. Hanssen passed away on June 25, 1967, in Bergen, Norway.
