Lithuanian composer and pedagogue.His most famous work is the opera Pilėnai, which is still considered the most popular Lithuanian opera. in 1945 graduated from Mažeikiai high school. 1946-1948 studied at the Kaunas Conservatory, in the composition class of professor Juozas Gruodis. in 1951 graduated from the composition class of Professor Antanas Račiūnas of the LSSR Conservatory (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre).1950-1954 taught at Juozas Gruodis Music School in Kaunas. 1954-1994 taught music theory disciplines at the LSSR Conservatory, 1982. professorWrote 6 operas ("Castles", "Vaiva", "Daughter", "Two Swords", "American Tragedy", "Ave vita"), with which he extended and significantly enriched the development of national opera. Already with his first opera Pilėnai, he showed a bright melodist's talent, creative maturity, achieved great popularity, and was named a classic of Lithuanian opera.Harmonized and developed folk songs form a significant part of the work, there are about 100 of them.Part of V.
