Quentin Tarantino was born on 27 March 1963 to Connie Tarantino, 16, and Tony Tarantino, 21. His mother moved to Los Angeles when he was two years old and raised him alone. Tarantino spent a lot of time in cinemas as a child, and his main fascination was with combat and horror films.
At the age of 16, he dropped out of school because he wanted to pursue a career in acting. Five years later, he found a job at a video store in Manhattan Beach. Tarantino gradually immersed himself in the art of filmmaking and, together with his friends Roger Avary and Jerry Martinez, wrote the first screenplays for My Best Friend's Birthday (1987) and The Open Road.
In 1988, he played several cameo roles in television series. At the same time, he also wrote the screenplays for True Romance (released by Tony Scott in 1993); Natural Born Killers. He used the money from True Romance to write the crime thriller Reservoir Dogs, in which he also starred. Harvey Keitel also starred in this film. The film received the highest acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival.
Two years later, Tarantino's Pulp Fiction was released. It won the Palme d'Or, the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 1995, Tarantino had a cameo role in Desperado and in the same year wrote, directed and starred as a shocking personality in Four Rooms.
In 1997, he directed, wrote the screenplay and voiced the film Jackie Brown.
Tarantino's eastern martial arts film 'Kill Bill: Vol. 1' was released in 2003 and was notable for its visual and musical effects. A year later, the second part of this film, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, was released.
In 2007, Tarantino made Death Proof, which was released and screened in cinemas under the joint title Grindhouse with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror, with fictitious film advertisements in between. Both films were planned from the outset as parts of a joint project, Grindhouse, and were made on a joint budget.
In 2009, a new Q. Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt.
On 25 December 2012, the latest film by Q. Tarantino's Django Unchained was released on 25 May 2012. It is a western starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson. The film won two Oscars - C. Waltz for Best Supporting Actor, Q. Tarantino for Best Original Screenplay.
In mid-2015, the new Q. Tarantino's western The Sinister Eight. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen. The film is set several years after the United States Civil War in Wyoming. The film was released on 70 mm film at Christmas 2015 and had its digital premiere in January 2016[2].
In February 2018, plans were confirmed for a new film about the lives of actors in Hollywood. The film will be called 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' and will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. The final version of the film was screened at Cannes on 21 May 2019[3].
