Spanish artist, painter, graphic artist and sculptor, one of the most famous representatives of surrealism.
He started studying fine arts at the city art school. Since 1914 until 1918 was educated at the Academy of the Marist Brothers in Figueres.
in 1916 he was first introduced to modernist art while on vacation in Kadake. Dali's first personal exhibition took place in 1919. in 1921 father decided to send the artist to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. In the capital, Salvador met famous Spanish cultural figures such as Luis Bunjuel and Federico García Lorca.

Continuing his acquaintance with new art directions, Dali experimented with Cubism and Dadaism art directions. In 1926, just before his final exams, Dali was expelled from the Academy for bluntly saying that no one was competent enough to examine him. In the same year, Dali went to Paris for the first time, where he met Mr. Picasso. In search of his own style, the 20th century in the late 1930s Dali created a series of works influenced by Picasso and Miro. in 1929 the artist participated in the creation of the surrealist film "Andalusian Dog" together with Buñuel. At the same time, he first met his future wife Gala (Jelena Djakonova), then the wife of the poet Polis Eliuar.
Dali's works are shown in exhibitions, he gained popularity. in 1929 the artist joined the surrealist group organized by Andre Breton.
in 1934 Dali married Gala. In the same year, he visited the United States.
After Caudillo Franco came to power, the artist fell out with the left-wing Surrealists and was kicked out of the group. Dali replied: "Surrealism is me."
At the beginning of the Second World War, Dali and Gala went to the United States, where they lived from 1940. until 1948 in 1942 the artist published his autobiography "The Secret Life of Salvador Dali". His literary attempts, like his works of art, brought commercial success.
During his lifetime, Dali created over 1,500 works: he wrote librettos and designed several ballets: "Bacchanalia" - 1939, "Gala Ballet" - 1961. In 1946, he drew for Walt Disney films. Publishes his works "Mystical Manifesto" - 1951, "The Tragic Myth of the Angel from Miletus" - 1963.
