He became interested in music in the sixth grade, Roma was taught to play the guitar by his friends. In the seventh grade, he already played in dance evenings at the eight-year school in Mažeikiai. He started composing songs when he was in the eighth grade. in 1982 started singing in the variety ensemble of the Mažeikiai House of Culture, led by Antanas Dargis. After several years of singing in this collective, he created his own group "Auditorija". A few years later, he was invited to sing in the group "Raktas".
