It has many references to popular culture, gender stereotypes and nostalgia.In her work, the artist combines several disciplines, delves into performativity and its various forms, and manipulates the boundaries of genres. Lina Lapelytė interweaves the elements of popular music and opera with folk rituals and modern everyday culture.
The artist often involves members of communities and collectives in her projects. Professional performers and amateurs meet in the works. The collective work methodology is also reflected in successful creative collaborations. While living in London, she created performances "Hunky Bluff" (2014) and "Candy Shop" (2013-1015). Together with the artists Rugile Barzdziukaite and Vaiva Grainyte, the modern opera "Good days!", created in 2013, received six international awards. The opera, which tells about the different destinies of store employees, toured dozens of festivals around the world and was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and LRT. With the second joint creative project, the opera-performance "Sun and sea (Marina)", the artists in 2019 represented Lithuania at the 58th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art and was awarded the "Golden Lion".In her early work, the artist paid a lot of attention to improvisational music. The artist participated in various contemporary music projects, organized performances with Angharad Davies, David Toop, John Butcher, Anton Lukoszevieze, Eddie Prevost, David Ryan, Peter Cusack, Leafcutter John, the quartet "Twentytwentyone", Artur Bumštein, Rhodri Davies, Anat Ben David, Olga Nosova and others.
Improvisational music is an important part of the artist's work - from time to time he appears in a duet with Angharad Davies - "LA Wireless" and with the ensemble "Common Objects".
