Andrey Zvonkov is known primarily as an outstanding rock guitarist: for many years he has been performing as part of the Bi-2 group. But rock is far from his only interest. Zvonkov also masterfully performs classical piano pieces on the guitar in his own transcriptions. Andrey performs both solo and with a string quintet, the arrangements for which are written by Vyacheslav Akhmetzyanov.
Even as a child, Andrei learned the secrets of playing the classical piano, and in the 90s he completed his guitar studies at the Russian Gnesin Academy of Music. Classical education led to the fact that Andrei began to create arrangements for guitar of works written for piano, violin, cello. A. Zvonkov presented his arrangements to the audience while playing together with the professor of the Moscow Conservatory, pianist Alexander Vershinin. J.S. Bach's "Goldberg Variations", arranged for guitar and string quintet, performed together with the "String Theory" ensemble, sounded in the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Moscow. The sound of the guitar in the cathedral's unique acoustics inspired Andrejs to create arrangements of new works.
