in 2009 enrolled in bachelor's studies in TV directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (LMTA), in 2013. there he continued them with a master's degree in video directing. The final work was the film "Deminas: two fortresses" (2015), which was awarded for the best student film at the national Lithuanian film awards "Silver Crane". After her master's studies, Akvilė was invited to become a lecturer at the Vilnius Gediminas and Technical University, where she teaches the Basics of Media Production and Screenwriting modules. in 2020 the director enrolled in doctoral studies in art, where she conducts research on "Strategies of Absurd Humor in Cinema".
There is a characteristic lightness in the director's work, both in feature films and documentaries - the chosen characters are well-recognizable, everyday people whose experiences are not marked by special "social exoticism". In the stories told with the help of humor, attention is drawn to mutual relations, the inability of man to communicate his feelings, the world of women, and accepted but questionable practices in society.
