After starting to sing in the boys' choir "Ažuoliukas", in 1985 Arūnas Malikėnas completed his studies in the class of professor Virgilijaus Noreikas at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater.
In the same year, he made his debut at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater and has been its soloist ever since. In more than twenty years, the soloist's repertoire has accumulated more than 60 roles in various operas.
in 2009 was awarded the "Golden Stage Crosses" award for talent and professional excellence in creating small roles. In the same year, for his professionally performed supporting roles (Dulcamara ("Elixir of Love"), Dankairas ("Karmen"), etc., he was chosen as "The Best Opera Supporting Role Soloist" and awarded the "Opera Lighthouse".
1992 - 2000 He taught singing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater and is a vocal pedagogue of the LNOBT choir.
In addition to operatic activities, A. Malikėnas prepares parts in large symphonic instrumental works, compositions of the oratorio genre. He sang in G. F. Handel's oratorio "Samson", G. Puccini's Messa di Gloria, G. Mahler's VIII Symphony, L. van Beethoven's IX Symphony, C. Orff's Carmina Burana.
A. Malikėnas recorded CDs: E.Wolf-Ferrari "Susanė's secret", J. Gaižauskas "Buratinas" (Cat), B. Kutavičius "Bear" (Maršalka), M. Petrauskas "Birutė" (Vaidyla).
Together with the theater opera troupe, the soloist participated in the G. Verdi Festival in Le Roncole, Italy (1992), in Holland, in the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland (1993), the geography of the artist's tours includes about 30 countries of the world - USA, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Russia, Sweden, etc.
