Deimantas Narkevičius was born in 1964. in Utena, currently lives and works in Vilnius. After graduating from sculpture studies at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, in 1992 he went to study in London for a year. After returning to Lithuania, he created place-marking objects, but his growing interest in narrative led him to record interviews and conversations with artists, and later to experiment with various narrative structures through cinema and video art.D. Narkevičius' work has received wide recognition on the international art scene. He represented Lithuania at the 49th Venice Biennale in 2001, and in 2003 participated in the group exhibition "Utopia Station" curated by Molly Nesbit and Hans Ulrich Obrist at the 50th Venice Biennale.
Since 1992, he has participated in group exhibitions at several significant contemporary art events. in 1998 invited to Luxembourg Manifesta II. His works have been exhibited in London, Paris, Brussels, Vilnius, Manchester, Dublin, Vienna, Helsinki, Stockholm, Zurich, Rotterdam, Melbourne and many other cities. He also organized personal exhibitions, such as in 2003.
