In 1995, Birbynė completed his bachelor's studies at the Department of Folk Instruments and Accordion of the Lithuanian Academy of Music (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre). In 1996, he received a master's degree from the Academy of Music (specialty in percussion). In the same year, he joined prof. J. Domark's orchestral conducting course. In 1998, he received a bachelor's degree in orchestra conducting studies. In 1999, he obtained the qualification of a military orchestra conductor.
