in 1996 the puppeteers started their activities in the creative workshop of the artist Loreta Skruibienė, calling themselves "Aitvaru". The troupe consisted of Gintaras Gvazdaitis, Jūratė Kundrotienė, Ineta Vichrovaitė, Nauris Valuckas, Edgaras Kitavičius.
During its existence, the "Aitvaras" theater created 48 performances and many different educational programs, participated in many festivals in Lithuania and abroad, and conducted tours for children of foreign Lithuanian communities.
The theater is experimenting, looking for new ways of expression, new ways of the artistic language of the puppet theater and means of communication with the audience.
in 2005 The Ministry of Culture of Lithuania granted the status of a professional theater to the Alytus Puppet Theater "Aitvaras".
