The meaning of the word "Ambrosia" is interpreted differently in different sources: in one place it is a flower that causes allergies, in another it is the food of the Gods or ... a cocktail of exotic fruits with a dash of rum. As who prefers. However, the real "Ambrosia" today is Giedrius Viduolis, Kęstutis Matelis, Jonas Buziliauskas. They are the only group of comedians successfully touring Lithuania and having a regular audience, and the name "stuck" from the song "My house is overgrown with vines", where the word "vines" was replaced by the word "ambrozijom".
The career of "Ambrozija" began with a simple concert number in 1989, when in Rokišky, where the group members live, they were particularly popular comedians. In one of them, the male side of the folk ensemble "Gastauta" - A. Svidinskas, V. Žvirblis and G. Viduolis showed the audience a medley of songs in retro style. The debut was held. Then J. Buziliauskas, director of the cultural center, A. Bagdonas, sound operator, music creator joined the team.
Around 1990, when the POP CENTRAS concert agency invited them to the jokes championship in the Kaunas sports hall, Ambrozija became known to a wider audience. The audience of the capital saw them for the first time during the agitbrigade competition. During the summer, "Ambrozija" was invited to participate in the "March of Fools" concert tour in various Lithuanian cities together with other well-known Lithuanian humor groups. More than 15,000 spectators gathered at the stadiums at that time. It was a fairly active period of activity. 1993/1994 was a time of change. A. Svidinskas, V. Žvirblis, J. Buziliauskas left the group, but K. Matelis joined "Ambrozija" instead, and G. Žilėnas became the concert organizer. At the same time, children's theater director E. Galvydis joined the group. On the initiative of the latter, the programs went in a different direction. The next three years in the life of "Ambrosia" were dedicated to the creation of children's programs - performances. The soundtrack of one of them, the performance "Swiedinukas Greituoliukas", was released by the audio recording publishing company "Bomba".
In 1996, the team changed again: E. Galvydis and A. Bagdonas left, but J. Buziliauskas returned.
1997/1998 - in those years, comedians regained their positions, there was a demand, and concerts were revived. Since 2000 until 2003 regularly participated in the most popular humor event in the country "Lithuanian comedian's evening". In 2001, the first woman in its history, V. Mičiulienė, joined the team. By the way, she had been filming in the joint TV project "Nosis" for a year, bringing new colors to "Ambrozijon" and leaving "Ambrozija" in 2008. In the fall of 2009, the collective celebrated 20 years of creative activity.
In the fall of 2011, J. Buziliauskas left the team. Now the group consists of G. Viduolis and K. Matelis.
Today, "Ambrozija" organizes about 100 concerts a year, has its own audience and has become classics of Lithuanian humor. The key to the collective's popularity is that they don't make viewers think too much, they take situations from life, but at the same time, their humor always has a "second plan", it's not superficial, and the "nail" of the programs are human things.
