"Ažuoliukas" is a choir of boys and young people founded in 1959 by Maestro Herman Perelštein. Today, "Ėuoliukas" is one of the best-known names in the world of Lithuanian music. It is a unique combination of several choirs, from toddlers to men's, and a music school. A fertile environment where dozens of famous country musicians have matured.
However, at "Ažuoliuke" the boys receive much more than just the basics of musical education. Maybe that's why many members of this collective do not hesitate to call "Ažuoliukas" a school of life and a second home. It is a space where the child fully matures for an independent life.
However, singing and music are the basis of "Ažuoliuk's" existence. Today, "Ažuoliukas" consists of eight choirs in which several hundred children, teenagers and men sing. Now it is no longer surprising when father and son go to rehearsals together and stand together on stage. Representatives of different generations, united by a common state that no words can describe. They are both "oaks". And it will be equally difficult for them to explain to an outsider what is included in this concept. Because being an "oak" means much more than rehearsals and concerts, music lessons and exams. "Ažuoliukas" has long gone beyond the traditional framework of musical education, becoming a kind of forge of personality, leaving a mark on everyone who had the chance to spend at least a little longer in this collective.
The facts of musical activity accumulated over many years are extremely numerous. The collective is known far beyond the borders of Lithuania. Thousands of performances, hundreds of concert halls, dozens of countries around the world. Thousands of different works, performed with dozens of orchestras, conducted by famous Lithuanian and foreign conductors. "Ažuoliukas" participated in musical events of almost all possible genres, and composers write some of their works specifically for this choir.
Today, the "Oak" has grown into a mighty tree that has been and still is home to several thousand boys.
