One of the most dynamic and interesting Sakartvelo collectives of this generation, the K. VARDELI String Quartet has received international attention and recognition from critics. The ensemble is known for its fiery performances, passionate style and refined musical interpretation.
The String Quartet of Tbilisi V. Saradzhishvili State Conservatory, founded in 2016, is named after the famous Georgian violinist Konstantinos Vardeli. Currently, the group is led by the distinguished artist of Sakartveli, the head of the string department of the V. Saradzhyshvili State Conservatory in Tbilisi, Ernst Arakelov, professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory. The quartet actively performs in Sakartvelo and foreign countries, and is the winner of international competitions. in 2020 the collective became the laureate of the international competition of string performers in Valletta, Malta. The ensemble's repertoire and concert program include chamber music from various eras, examples of church music from Sakartvelo. in 2017 on the initiative of the members of the quartet, the first Georgian youth chamber orchestra was founded, with which K. The VARDELI string quartet performs regularly in solo concerts. In 2018, the quartet released its first CD, which featured E. Grieg's Quartet No. 1, J. Haydn's Quartet No. 2 (op. 76) and S. Tsintsadze's miniatures. The collective is one of the first youth quartets from Sakartvel, actively participating in international string quartet and chamber music competitions around the world.
