Founded in 2012 by dancers and choreographers Airida Gudaitė and Lauryn Žakevičius, the first Urban Dance Theater in Lithuania aims to reveal the artistic potential of expanded urban dance and present it to performing arts professionals and lovers. By experimenting and combining different dance styles, elements of performance and physical theater, choosing themes of works for productions, placing them in social contexts in communities, mentoring and educating young dancers on stage, they innovatively create new interdisciplinary syntheses and, as they develop, gather a professional community around them and implement audience development strategies.
After presenting ten performances to the audience, they were awarded three Golden Crosses of the Stage, they were awarded the Boris Dauguvietis earring for the successful search for new forms of stage expression by combining street dance and theater in the performances, as well as the pedagogical activities that are changing the face of Lithuanian contemporary dance, the prize of the Lithuanian Contemporary Dance Association, the Young Creator Award of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and having received the attention of foreign critics and professionals on tour, Low Air in 2017. received the name of the Vilnius City Dance Theater. This gave an even greater responsibility to promote the name of Vilnius and Lithuania in the world.
40% of all performances of the theater troupe are shown abroad. Performances have been presented at major art festivals and on exclusive stages: in Israel, France, Germany, the USA, Sweden, Iceland, Scotland, the United Kingdom, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, Greenland, Bulgaria, Austria, China, Georgia, South Korea, throughout Lithuania. .
