The symphony orchestra of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts was founded in 2002. It is a former famous string orchestra, the founder of which is prof. S. Sondeckis, continuation of activities. Since the foundation of the symphony orchestra, it has been led by the conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theater, Martynas Staškus. In the programs, the conductor deliberately gives preference to classical opus, which practice precision and balance, in other words, the students here study a primer on orchestral order. One of the first in the orchestra's repertoire was J. Haydn's "Military Symphony".The programs prepared by the orchestra were already played in the Vilnius National Philharmonic Hall. The tour routes reached not only the concert halls of Kaunas, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, Plungė, Panevėžys, Visaginas and other Lithuanian cities, but also the listeners of Kaliningrad and Riga.National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Symphony Orchestra 2010-2012. participated in the final concerts of "Dainų daineles" at LNOBT, and also accompanied for the first time at the republican schoolchildren's song festival.The orchestra's program is very diverse: symphonic works by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, G. Pierne, M. K. Čiurlionis, J. Brahms, J. Strauss and other authors. Concerts for symphony orchestra with soloists by many composers (F. Chopin, G. Faure, P. Tchaikovsky, C. Renecke, C. M. von Weber) were performed. Solo parts were performed by school students: Agnė Radzevičiūtė, Algirdas Šochas, Arnas Kmieliauskas, Povilas Čepulis, Aistė Baliunytė, Monika Daržinkevičiūtė, Vytautas Oškinis, Anastasija Bykova, Paulius Andersson and many others.The symphony orchestra of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts has trained many musicians who successfully play in various orchestras around the world.
