Founded in 1970 Klaipėda. During the Soviet era, it was called a "professional vocal-instrumental ensemble"Since 1974 headed by Romualdas Bieliauskas (1943–1979). It was located in Klaipėda Philharmonic Hall (now - Klaipėda Mary Queen of Peace Church). Each year, the members of the group prepared a new music program coordinated with the government. Work in an ensemble belonging to the Philharmonic was considered prestigious. The members had to work a lot - every year for 8 months 2-3 concerts every day, about 4 months - rehearsals, vacations and rare days off. The group was popular, they held several concerts in a row in large halls (Vilnius Sports Hall, Kaunas Hall). Toured the republics of the USSR, Eastern Europe, Sweden, Mozambique.Later famous performers started their musical careers in the group: Stasys Povilaitis, Nijolė Tallat-Kelpšaitė, Birutė Petrikytė, Laima Žemaitytė, Edmundas Kučinskas, Simonas Donskovas, Vitalijs Pauliukas and others.
