"Schola Gregoriana Vilnensis" practices continuous liturgical service in Vilnius Archcathedral Basilica. It started in 1989. in May, when a group of young men decided to revive the Gregorian chant in Lithuania and founded the group "Cantores chorales capellae S. Casimiri". Since 1991 the choir became mixed, from 1994 it is called Schola Gregoriana Vilnensis. Schola regularly sings at the last Mass of Sundays and other holidays offered in the Arch Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. This time was set for them 30 years ago by the then Archbishop of Vilnius, Julijonas Steponavičius.Schola Gregoriana Vilnensis is more than a choir: it is a community of free people who are faithful to the Roman Catholic Church and who love its traditional singing, the Gregorian chant. Throughout these thirty years, the collective was led by three managers: its founder Dainius Juozenas (1989–1994 and 2007–2019), Živilė Stonytė (1991–1994 and 2000–2006) and Daina Adamkevičiūtė (1995–1999). The choir performed and sang in ceremonies in many European countries, released recordings, and significantly contributed to the establishment of Benedictine monks in Lithuania. Former members of the schola include priests and nuns. Since 1993 Schola Gregoriana Vilnensis regularly organizes Gregorian chant masterclasses. Since 2011 The school is assisted by the excellent interpreter of liturgical music, the organist Agnė Petrushkevičiūtė.
