The group's history began in 1992. on November 10, when its founder and leader Egidijus Dragūnas decided to call Andrii Mamontov, who at that time hosted a show on radio station M-1, and asked him to help create a rap group. E. Dragūnas did not go unnoticed and Andriaus' brother Justas Mamontovas, who produced the popular hip-hop group "Pompa" at the time, soon started working with him and several of his friends. The name of the group consists of the first letters of its members' names (Sieras, Egis, Laimis). Only its leader Egidijus Dragūnas is a permanent member of the group. Starting with the first album "Kaip ir tu", E. Dragūnas worked with new people who in one way or another performed Sel's music.

During its existence, SEL released 10 albums, 6 singles, 2 greatest hits compilations and 1 DVD documentary. The album "Aš kaip žasis" was certified platinum in Lithuania.

in 2015 December 5 Sel organized his most expensive show, which cost 400 thousand. euros, and a new attendance record was set at the "Žalgiris" arena in Kaunas - 20,517 spectators watched the performance
