The history of the representative wind orchestra of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania dates back to 1935, when a professional brass orchestra was established in Kaunas Police Department under the Ministry of the Interior. Julius Radžiūnas was chosen as the first leader and conductor of the collective. As part of the police and internal affairs system, the orchestra has survived many vicissitudes of the state of political change. Having survived two occupations, it existed until 1944. in June when the Soviet army and government returned to Lithuania. in 1989 in the era of national upsurge, the music collective was restored. in 1991 After Lithuania regained its independence, it resumed its activities as the Representative Wind Orchestra of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. The orchestra was conducted by: Bronius Jonušas (1937 - 1944), Algirdas Kazimieras Radzevičius (1989 - 2012), Egidijus Miknius (2012 - 2017). The concert institution was led by director Angelė Abišalienė (2008-2018), from 2019 the institution is headed by Artūras Maniušis.An important date in the band's biography was the year 2008, when the orchestra was granted the status of a concert institution. Every year, the collective prepares at least five new artistic programs, organizes over a hundred of their performances, cooperates with guest soloists (vocalists and instrumentalists) and other artistic collectives.He has recorded and released eight audio cassettes, seven CDs and several video cassettes. Participated in international festivals and competitions: in Sweden, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Estonia. Famous national performers perform with the orchestra: Vaidas Vyšniauskas, Egidijus Bavikinas, Petras Vyšniauskas, Merūnas Vitulskis, Veronika Pavilionienė, Vaida Genytė, Liudas Mikalauskas, Vilija Matačiūnaitė, Girmantė Vaitkutė, swing queens "The Ditties", Audrius Rubežius, etc.In 2018, Eimantas Anskaitis was appointed artistic director and conductor of the Orchestra, and Rokas Podelis was appointed assistant artistic director and conductor.
