He studied art at the M. K. Čiurlionis Arts Gymnasium in Vilnius. In 1999, he entered the Lithuanian Academy of Music and in 2003, he obtained an actor-dancer specialty at the Faculty of Theater and Cinema (teacher Anželika Cholina). The most prominent dramatic roles of Gytis Ivanauskas were created in collaboration with directors Oskars Koršunovs (at the OKT Theater) and Gintarus Varna (at the Kaunas State Drama Theatre, as well as at the Utopia Theater). The actor participates in independent dance projects, in 2005 he founded a theater of his own name, where he creates dance performances, and in 2011 he started directing dramas.
