Jan Duszyński – born in Warsaw, Poland on April 26, 1976. Passionate about music from his earliest years, he began his formal training at seventeen, on the organ at Jozef Elsner Secondary Music School.
After completing a degree in composition at Warsaw University of Music, he studied for his master’s degree at the Juilliard School. In 2007 Jan was invited to participate in the Aspen Music Festival where two of his works were performed. With his creative work spanning concert, theater, and film music, Jan has written scores to more than seventy plays and a dozen movies. He has worked with major polish directors, including Krzysztof Warlikowski, Wladyslaw Pasikowski, Krzysztof Garbaczewski, Michal Zadara, Piotr Cieplak, Anna Smolar, Atsushi Funahashi, Ewelina Marciniak, Monika Strzępka and Agnieszka Glinka, collaborations that have resulted in awards at the theater and film festivals in Poland and abroad.
In recent years he has also been active as an autonomous music composer. His main works included Loophole for violin and orchestra (National Forum of Music), First Symphony (Sinfonia Varsovia), opera Hiob (Munich Staatsoper) and Sfex (Duo Twogether).
