Lithuanian contemporary professional music composer. Rooted in a jazz aesthetic, his musical style exploits vastly different layers of musical creativity, from academic to pop and casual music. J. Jurkūnas' work consists of chamber and orchestral works, as well as electronic music, multimedia and interdisciplinary projects. J. Jurkūnas' field of pedagogical activity is classical and jazz orchestration, acoustic and electronic music composition. Jonas Jurkūnas started his music studies in 1993. from jazz guitar and improvisation lessons with Stasis Daugirdas. 1996-2001 He continued his jazz guitar studies at the Juoz Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory in Vilnius, in the pop department. 2001-2007 studied composition at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater in the class of Vytautas Barkauskas, continued his master's studies with Rimantas Janeliauskas. 2002-2003 studied electroacoustic and instrumental composition at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon (France) under Denis Lorrain and Robert Pascal. Jonas Jurkūnas participated in various master courses for composers, taught by Louis Andriessen, Meredith Monk, the "Bang on a Can" group of creators. 2017 J.
