J. Šopa started studying music in his native Mažeikiai, but he did not immediately decide to follow the path of music. However, realizing that he had a great passion for music and the piano, he continued his studies at Klaipėda Stasios Šimkaus Conservatory with teacher Virginija Ruzgienė.
Having graduated from Klaipėda last year, the performer is currently studying at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy (LMTA), in the piano class of professor Jurgis Karnavičius. Jonas also learned the intricacies of the art of playing the piano in master courses led by various pedagogues. The young pianist has already won the laureate title and various awards in more than ten competitions in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Austria and France. His most recent achievements are the first place in the international artist competition "Kaunas Sonorum 2017", the laureate's diploma in the 20th national Bali Dvarion competition, a congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, and the first place in the IV LMTA pianists' competition to win the prizes of the Nijolė and Jonas Dėdinė Foundation. The talented performer has also won several scholarships.
