Born in 1945. Jovita Saulėnienė graduated from Endriejavas Secondary School in 1963, and from 1963 to 1967 studied Lithuanian language and literature at the Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute. 1967-1971 – teacher of Lithuanian language and literature at Valkininkai (Varėna district) secondary school, 1972-1988 – lecturer at the Lithuanian Language and Literature Department of the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian State Conservatory, 1999-2005 – director of the S. Dachas House and editor of the monthly magazine “German News in Lithuania”. Editor of the East Prussian historical, cultural, literary publication “Smiltė” in Lithuanian and German. Published books about Queen Louise of Prussia, the first poet of Klaipėda S. Dachas, and on other historical topics. The author's articles about old Klaipėda have been published in the cultural and art magazine "Durys". In 2015, she was awarded the Prussian Prize for her book "Nugrimzdusi Klaipėda" (Volume II). In 2009, Jovita Saulėnienė and Rasa Tarik were awarded the Ieva Simonaitytė Literary Prize for their book "Nugrimzdusi Klaipėda".
