Jūratė Sodytė is a movement and opera director, assistant to opera directors. Studied at the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, graduated from the International Slavic University Dance Academy (Ukraine). Until 2003 was a ballet soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater (LNOBT), 1992-1995. also danced in the ballet troupe of the Krakow Opera.
Since 2003 J. Sodytė is a LNOBT choreographer and assistant to opera directors. She had the opportunity to collaborate with such famous Lithuanian and foreign directors as Eimuntas Nekrošius, Anthony Minghella, Carolyn Choa, Robert Wilson, Günter Krämer, Graham Vick, Emilio Sagi, David Alden, Vasilijus Barchatovas, Jean-Claude Berutti, Andrea de Rosa, Oskars Korshunov and many others. As a choreographer, she collaborated with famous choreographers Vladimir Vasiliev, Andrej Melanjin, Arthur Pita, John Ross, Monika Wiesler, Krzysztof Pastor, etc. As an opera director and assistant, she worked at LNOBT, Israel Opera, Guangzhou Opera (China), Escorial in San Lorenzo (Spain), Petruzzelli Theater in Bari and Cagliari Lyric Theater (Italy), Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg (Russia). She directed Leonard Bernstein's operetta "Candidas" (2018) at the Klaipėda State Music Theater.
J. Sodytė actively expresses herself in the academic field as well. 2006-2016 she was the head of the Department of Dance Pedagogy and Performing Arts at Vilnius College and the curator of the musical theater study program. Since 2016 is a lecturer and director of the Opera Studio of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. J. Sodytė is often invited to judge various television projects.
