Born in Parma, Italy, Marcello Lumaca works worldwide as a lighting designer in theatre, performance and installation. For more than twenty years, he has been working continuously with the director Robert Wilson, in joint productions, e.g. "St. The Temptation of Anthony", "Persephone", "Lady from the Sea", "Old Woman", "Letter to a Husband", "Garrincha - Street Opera", "Edda" and from 2021-2022 "Dorian" at the Schauspielhaus in Dusseldorf. Lumaca also regularly collaborates with British film director and experimental artist Peter Greenaway, e.g. he created lighting for installations and performances The Blue Planet, Children of Uranus, Leonardo's Last Supper, The Marriage and Rembrandt's Mirror. In collaboration with director Peter Stein, a.o. the performances "Pentesilėja" and "Medėja" are shown internationally. Lumaca created the lighting concept for Italian architect Italo Rota's C25 Option of Luxury exhibition and worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company on the premiere of Derek Walcott's The Odyssey. In 2016, Lumaca was responsible for the fashion event "Looking for Marni" and has continued to collaborate with the Italian fashion house ever since.
