Naomie Melanie Harris (born 6 September 1976) is an English actress, who was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2017 for services to the arts.
Naomie's mother was born in Jamaica but raised in England,[1] and her father is an emigrant from Trinidad. They divorced before Naomi was born and she grew up with her mother alone, without any contact with her father. Her mother later married and Naomi has two brothers. She was educated at St. Naomi attended Marylebone School, Woodhouse and Pembroke Colleges and studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
At the age of 9, she was first invited to do a cameo role on television when her mother worked as a scriptwriter, contributing to various soap operas. In 2002, Naomi landed a role in the post-apocalyptic film "28 Days Later", which opened the door for her further career in film. She starred in two Pirates of the Caribbean series with Johnny Depp in 2006 and 2007. In 2001, Naomi made her theatre debut, and in 2012 she portrayed Eve Moneypenny for the first time in the James Bond series. While Moneypenny had previously only made a cameo appearance in the films as a secretary, Naomi's character is now an agent assisting Bond. In 2015, she reprised this role in Spectre.
In 2013, Naomi portrayed Winnie Mandela in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom[2] In 2016, she appeared in Moonlight, which was critically acclaimed and earned her a series of awards, including an Oscar nomination.
