Penelope Cruz (sp. Penelope Cruz, full name Penélope Cruz Sánchez; born 28 April 1974. Cruz Cruz (born 28 May 2018 in Madrid, Spain) is a Spanish actress, best known for her roles in Almodóvar's films. She has also appeared in Hollywood films. She is the first Spanish actress to win an Oscar.
Penelope Cruz was born in Madrid. As a child, she took ballet for nine years at the Spanish National Conservatory and studied jazz dance for three years. At the age of 15, she was selected from more than 300 applicants by a talent agency and began her career on various Spanish TV shows and in music videos, which later became her "springboard" to the big screen.
She has been a vegetarian since 2000.
She speaks four languages: Spanish, English, Italian and French.
Cruz has a younger brother, Eduardo, a singer, and a younger sister, Monica, who is also an actress, dancer and model.
She was ranked 72nd in FHM magazine's "World's 100 Sexiest Women 2006" readers' choice.
