Plato (Greek: Πλάτων; Plato is a nickname, meaning "broad, broad-shouldered", real name - Aristocles, Greek: Αριστοκλής 422-347 BC) - Greek philosopher who lived in Athens. Plato created his own philosophical system called Platonism and the Academy. the first higher education institution on the European continent.
Along with his teacher Socrates and his student Aristotle, Plato is considered a key figure in the formation of ancient Greek philosophy and the Western and Middle Eastern philosophies derived from it. Plato's philosophy also had a tremendous influence on religion and spirituality. The so-called Neoplatonism of his exponent, Plotinus, greatly influenced both Christian and Islamic philosophy.
