Rag’n’Bone Man is the stage name of Rory Charles Graham, born on 29 January 1985 in Uckfield, East Sussex, England. He is renowned for his deep baritone voice and his blend of blues, soul, and contemporary pop influences.
Graham began his musical journey at age 15, MCing as part of a drum and bass crew under the name Rag ‘N’ Bonez—a moniker inspired by the British sitcom Steptoe and Son, about a father-and-son rag-and-bone business. After moving to Brighton, he became involved with the local hip-hop collective Rum Committee, performing at club nights and supporting hip-hop legends, which helped him build industry connections.
Rise to Fame
Rag’n’Bone Man’s early releases included a series of EPs: Bluestown (2012), Dog ‘n’ Bone (2013), Put That Soul on Me (2014), Wolves (2014), and Disfigured (2015). His big break came in 2016 with the single “Human,” which topped charts internationally and was widely featured in media. His debut album, Human (2017), became the fastest-selling debut album by a male artist in the UK for that decade and achieved 4× Platinum certification. The album’s success established him as a global artist.
Later Career
He continued his success with collaborations across genres, working with artists like Bugzy Malone, Logic, and Calvin Harris. His second album, Life by Misadventure (2021), debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling album by a solo artist in the UK that year. In October 2024, he released his third studio album, What Do You Believe In?, preceded by singles such as “Pocket,” “Rush of Blood,” and “Lovers In A Past Life” (with Calvin Harris).
