Arturas Bumšteinas is a Lithuanian composer and sound artist. Active in the field of artistic music since the end of the 90s, in 2012. started performing under his name Refusenik. His work spans the disciplines of music, exhibitions, performance, theater and radio art. He often works not only as an audio-visual artist, but also as an organizer, initiating various experimental creative projects and creating festival programs. Bumstein's musical territory extends from meaningful game-based minimalist soundtracks and voice manipulations to carefully and delicately composed electroacoustic compositions, where fragments of acoustic instrument sounds are organically woven into the texture of electronic atmospheres, noises, and arrhythmic rhythms.
He has presented his music and audiovisual projects at numerous European festivals, participated in dozens of group contemporary art events in Lithuania and abroad, and organized original exhibitions in Germany, Sweden and Lithuania. in 2019 A. Bumšteins was awarded the Boris Dauguvietis earring for the integration of sound experiments into new theater forms. in 2021 won the "Golden stage cross" in the "Music for a performance" category for the music for the performances of the State Youth Theater - "Austerlicas" directed by Krystian Lupa and for his directorial debut "Urbančičius method".
