Rita Petrauskaitė started studying music at the Šiauliai Children's Music School, where she completed cello and piano classes (1979–1985). He completed two semesters of choir conducting class at the Šiauliai Higher Music School (now the conservatory) (1985-1986). 1987-1991 He studied solo singing (teacher V. Kuraitė) and acting excellence (teachers G. Žilys, S. Petkus, K. Žilinskas) at the Klaipėda faculties of the Lithuanian Conservatory (now the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater). 1994-1996 In the musical theater of Flensburg (Germany), he trained with conductor Volker Christ (Germany) and pianist and conductor Teo Say (USA, Germany). in 2002 participated in the Vera Scammon singing competition in the USA and became its finalist. Since 2009 collaborates and improves with prof. Barbro Marklund in Peterson (Norway).
Since 1991 sings in Klaipėda State Musical Theater (since 2002 - soloist), cooperates with other Lithuanian musical theaters. Singing in musical theater performances and concerts, the soloist collaborated with conductors Tomas Ambrozaičius (Lithuania), Johannes Wildner (Austria), Cyril Diederich (France), Pierre Vallet (France), Frederic Deloche (France), Ilmar Hari Lapinius (Latvia ), Normund Vaici (Latvia), Martin Lutz (Germany), Nikolaj Makarevičius (Belarus), Juoz Domark (Lithuania), Martyn Staškumi (Lithuania), Robert Šervenik (Lithuania), Stas Domark (Lithuania), Dainius Pavilion (Lithuania), Modest Barkauskas (Lithuania). He recorded the CD "Baltic in Sound" with the conductor I.H. Lapini.

The soloist has been collaborating with Klaipėda-based composer Alvid Remesa for many years. She sang the soprano parts in his "Jubilee Holy Mass" to mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of M. K. Čiurlionis (2005), as well as Symphony no. 7 world premieres of Assumptiones (2016) (this score was composed by the composer especially for her).
