Born in Moldova in 1976 and based in Vienna, Sasha Danilov enjoys a reputation as one of the best klezmer clarinetists in the world. Influenced by the music of his homeland, he has mastered this typical mixture of Moldovan and Jewish folk music elements like no other. Together with Roman Grinberg he also founded the Vienna Klezmer Academy and the Vienna Klezmer Orchestra. The Vienna Klezmer Orchestra is considered to be the only major orchestra in the world dedicated exclusively to Jewish music. Conducted by Klezmer expert Sasha Danilov, it has established itself as an integral part of the Jewish cultural scene in Austria. Today, Sasha Danilov is an internationally sought-after virtuoso on his instrument and a klezmer expert. Over the years he has created his own style, which he now teaches at festivals and klezmer workshops.
